Strout Amy and Isabelle's first novel was critically acclaimed, becoming the nation's best-selling novel and adapted into a movie starring Elisabeth Shue. His second novel, Abide with Me, received critical acclaim but was ultimately not as well recognized as his first novel. Two years later, Strout wrote and published Olive Kitteridge, a critical and commercial success with nearly $ 25 million with more than a million copies sold in May 2017. The novel won the Pulitzer Prize for the 2009 novel genre. The book was adapted into a multi-award winning miniseries and became the New York Times bestseller.
