In 1973, Warner was the first female pilot to be hired by an American airline since Helen Richey was hired as a co-pilot in 1934. In 1976, Warner was the first woman to become a captain of American airlines. Her career has been recognized by many prestigious venues, including the National Aviation Hall of Fame and the National Women's Hall of Fame. His pilot's uniform is on display at the Smithsonian National Museum of Aviation and Space. In addition to being a pilot, Warner is also the principal of a flight school in Denver, Colorado. She is an FAA flight instructor and highly regarded flight inspector. She has flown over 21,000 flight hours and completed more than 3,000 tests and assessments throughout her career.
