Eric L. Haney is a retired member of the US Army's counterterrorism unit, 1-Delta Special Operations Squadron, commonly known as the Delta Force. In recent years he has written on terrorism, guerrilla warfare and special operations. Haney is the author of Inside Delta Force, a memoir of his time in the elite unit in which he also writes about his participation in Iran's mission to cancel Operation Eagle Claw 1980 to free American hostages. . He is the co-executive producer of the CBS television series The Unit, created by David Mamet and inspired by Haney's exceptional operating experiences. Previously, Haney was technical advisor for Mamet's 2004 film Spartan, starring Val Kilmer.
