Theophilus Ernest Eastman is a politician in Liberia. While serving as Secretary of State under the Tubman administration, he pressured President Tubman to begin to participate widely in Lien Phi politics. From 1983 to 1986, he was Minister of Foreign Affairs under the dictator Samuel Doe, succeeding Henry Boimah Fahnbulleh and before John Bernard Blamo. President Charles Ghankay Taylor later appointed him as Secretary of State for Presidential Affairs before returning him to the State Department. He represented the National Patriotic Party at ECOWAS sponsoring peace negotiations in Banjul. After graduating from West African College in 1947, Eastman moved to the United States, where he graduated from Oberlin College and Columbia University. He has been married three times: first with Erelia Eastman, a student from Colombia; second after Danielette Norman, a Liberian; and third for Salma Mohammed Ali from Kenya.
