Frederick Sanger is a British double biochemist who won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry, is one of only two to have done so in the same category, the fourth with two Nobel Prizes and the third with two Nobel Prizes. . In 1958 he received the Nobel Prize in chemistry "for research on the structure of proteins, in particular the structure of insulin". In 1980, Walter Gilbert and Sanger shared a chemistry award "for their contributions related to the determination of the base sequence in nucleic acids". The other half belongs to Paul Berg "for his basic research on the biochemistry of nucleic acids, in particular concerning recombinant DNA".
