Alexander Gordon Jump is the American actor best known for his portrayal of Arthur "Big Guy" Carlson, the distraught but sometimes astute radio director in the Cincinnati TV series WKRP and "Sheriff Tinkler" incompetent in Soap sitcom. Jump's most memorable cameo role was in a two-part episode of the 1980s sitcom Diff'rent Strokes, in which he played a pedophile trying to assault protagonist Arnold and his friend, Dudley. He also played the role of "Maytag Repairman" in advertisements for Maytag-branded equipment from 1989 until his retirement in July 2003.
