Jennifer Jessica Martínez Fernández, known by her stage name India Martínez, is a Spanish pop and flamenco singer. Her artistic name was given by the first manager she had at the age of 17, when she signed her first recording contract. Her first exposure to flamenco was through the dance lessons she received from Nieves Camacho in Cordoba when she was 5 years old. At the age of 11, she moved with her parents to Puerto de Roquetas de Mar, where a year later she began singing. and also began to be called "La Niña del Puerto". She was nominated for the Latin Grammy Award for Best New Artist at the 2009 Latin Grammy Awards. She won the 2012 Premio Cadena Dial Award for the Gold Certified Trece Verdades album. She signed with Sony Music Entertainment. She also won the Goya award for the song of the Spanish film El Niño in 2015.
