James Watt
James Watt was a Scottish inventor, mechanical engineer and chemist who improved Thomas Newcomen's Newcomen 1712 steam engine with his Watt steam engine in 1776, this was the basis for the changes brought about by the Industrial Revolution in England and beyond of the world. While working as a musical instrument at the University of Glasgow, Watt became interested in steam engine technology. He realized that contemporary engine designs wereted a lot of energy by continually cooling and heating the cylinders. Watt introduced a design improvement, a separate condenser, which avoids this waste of energy and greatly improves the capacity, efficiency and economy of the steam engine. Ultimately, he tuned his motor to induce rotational movement, dramatically extending its use beyond pumping water. Watt tried to commercialize his invention, but suffered great financial difficulty until he joined forces with Matthew Boulton in 1775 .
