Jeffrey Nels Williams is a retired United States Army officer and a NASA astronaut. He is a veteran of four space flights and formerly held the American record for most days spent in space, which was surpassed in April 2017 by his colleague Peggy Whitson. He still holds the record of the longest time in space for an American man.

About Jeff Williams
American astronaut who, as of January 2019, has held the record for the longest time in space by an American man. He completed his fourth spaceflight in 2016 during NASA's Expedition 47/48.
Before Fame
He graduated from the US Military Academy with a degree in engineering in 1980. He was later selected as an astronaut by NASA in 1996.
Achievement
He worked as the commander of the NEEMO 3 aquanaut underwater mission, where he lived and worked underwater for six days. He participated in the first ever NASA Tweet-up in October 2009, and obtained the first live Twitter connection for NASA in space.
Family Life
His parents' names are Eunice and Lloyd.
Associations
He surpassed Scott Kelly's previously-held record of 520 cumulative days in space while on Expedition 47 in 2016.
