General John Burgoyne was an officer, playwright and politician of the British Army, serving in the House of Representatives from 1761 to 1792. He acted in the Seven Years War for the first time in several battles battle, especially during the Portuguese campaign of 1762. Burgoyne is known for his role in the American Revolutionary War. He devised an invasion plan and was tasked with commanding a force moving south from Canada to separate New England and end the uprising. Burgoyne advanced from Canada, but his slow movements allowed the Americans to muster forces.
