Although Carpenter worked with various genres of films, he is often associated with horror, action, and sci-fi films of the 1970s and 1980s. Most of the films in Carpenter's career have all failed on the plan. commercial and critical, with notable exceptions such as Halloween, The Fog, Escape from New York and Starman. However, many of Carpenter's films from the 1970s and 1980s are considered hit classics, and he is recognized as an influential filmmaker. The cult classics performed by Carpenter include The Dark Star, The Attack on Precinct 13, The Thing, Christine, The Big Trouble in Little China, The Dark Prince, They Live, and In the Mouth of madness. He returns to the Halloween franchise as songwriter and executive producer for the Halloween horror sequel. Carpenter has composed or co-composed most of the music for his movies.
