John Kenneth Galbraith, also known as Ken Galbraith, is an American economist, diplomat, public servant and intellectual. As a leading proponent of American liberalism in the twentieth century, his books on economics were best-selling from the 1950s to the 2000s. As an economist, he studied post-Keynesian economics in an institutional point of view. Galbraith is a longtime Harvard lecturer and has worked at Harvard University for half a century as a professor of economics. He is a wealthy author and has written some 40 books, including several novels, and published over a thousand articles and essays on various subjects. Among his works are a trilogy on economics, American capitalism, wealthy society and the new industrial state. Some of his work has been criticized by the economists Milton Friedman, Paul Krugman, Robert Solow and Thomas Sowell.
