Karlos Arguiñano Urkiola is a famous Spanish chef, presenter and television producer, and a Basque businessman. His passion for cooking begins at a young age and helps with household chores because he is the oldest in a family of 4 siblings and has a disabled mother. Before starting kitchen training, he worked for CAF, a train wagon company in Beasain. At the age of 17 he decided to take a course at the Escuela de Hostelería del Hotel Euromar, where, for three years, he learned key cooking principles from Luis Irizar. There, he met people who have had great success in the culinary world, such as Pedro Subijana and Ramón Roteta. Arguiñano has had a hotel-restaurant on the Zarautz beach since 1978. He was one of the first television chefs in Spain with his cooking show, La cocina by Karlos Arguiñano, first on Euskal. Telebista, later on Televisión Española, Argentina ATC, returns to Spain with Telecinco and, since September 2010 on Antena 3 .
