She is considered by academics to be a precursor to 20th century American feminist writers of Catholic or Southern descent, such as Zelda Fitzgerald, and is one of the most recognized and widely read writers. From a French mother and an Irish mother, Chopin was born in St. Mary's. Louis, Missouri. She got married and moved to New Orleans with her husband. Then they lived in the countryside in Cloutierville, Louisiana. From 1892 to 1895, Chopin wrote short stories for children and adults which were published in national magazines such as Atlantic Monthly, Vogue, The Century Magazine and The Youth's Companion. Its stories were controversial because of its subject matter and its approach; they have been condemned as immoral by some critics. His main works are two volumes of short stories: Bayou Folk and A Night in Acadie.
