Kid Thomas, is an American jazz band and trumpeter whose birth name is Thomas Valentine. Kid Thomas was born in Reserve, Louisiana and came to New Orleans at a young age. In the early 1920s, it was known as a hot trumpet. From 1926, he led his own group, based in the Algiers suburb of New Orleans, Louisiana, for decades. The group has long been famous among local dancers. Kid Thomas is perhaps the oldest traditional jazz dance group in town. Unlike many other musicians, Thomas was unaffected by the influence of Louis Armstrong and subsequent developments in jazz, continuing to play his warm, bluesy, sometimes punchy style. His style is often featured, "New Orleans Jazz", to distinguish it from influences that have arisen from other parts of the country over the years.
