Leslie Marmon Silko is an American writer. A Laguna Pueblo Indian, she was one of the key figures in the first wave of what literary critic Kenneth Lincoln called the Native American Renaissance. Silko was the first person to receive the MacArthur Foundation Fellowship in 1981. The Native American Writers Lifetime Achievement Award in 1994 and the Robert Kirsch Award in 2020. She currently resides in Tucson, Arizona.
