Louis Henry Saban is an American football player and coach. He played for Indiana University in college and was a professional player for the Cleveland Browns of the All-American Football Conference from 1946 to 1949. Saban then began a long coaching career. After several college-level jobs, he became the Boston Patriots' first coach in the U.S. Rugby Championship in 1960. He joined the Buffalo Bills two years later and led the team to the joint championship of the United States. 'AFL. short service time. as head coach at the University of Maryland, he was hired as head coach of the Denver Broncos in 1967, where he remained for 5 years. Saban returned to the Bills - then the National Football League after merging the AFL-NFL - between 1972 and 1976, once reaching the knockout stages, but failing to bring Buffalo to another championship. After leaving Buffalo, Saban returned to training at the university.
