Mark Giordano is a Canadian professional ice hockey defender and captain of the Calgary Flames National Hockey Federation. As an untrained player, Giordano signed for the Flames as an independent in 2004 after playing two important seasons of teenage hockey with Owen Sound Attack of the Ontario Hockey League. Since his debut in 2006, Giordano has played his entire NHL career with the Flames, but left the team for a 2007-08 season, to play for Dynamo Moscow in the Russian Super League. Praised for his leadership, offense and defense, Giordano is one of the best goalies in the NHL and was named his first NHL All-Star Game player in 2015. The Flames also honored him for his charitable contributions; He was named the recipient of the J. R. “Bud” McCaig Award in 2012. Internationally, Giordano played with Team Canada at the 2010 IIHF World Championship and was a member of the 2007 Spengler Cup winning team.
