Kings of Leon are an American rock band formed in Nashville, Tennessee in 1999. The group consisted of brothers Caleb, Nathan and Jared Followill as well as cousin Matthew Followill. The band's original music was a mix of southern rock and garage rock with blues influences, but it has gradually evolved over the years to include more genres and an alternative arena rock sound. Kings of Leon achieved first success in the UK with nine Top 40 singles, two 2008 BRIT Awards, and the band's three albums at the time entered the top five on the albums chart at the time. Their third album, Because of the Weather, also reached number one. After releasing Only by the Night in September 2008, the group achieved chart success in the United States. The singles "Sex on Fire", "Use Somebody" and "Notion" all reached number one on the Hot Modern Rock Tracks charts.
