Oliver Payne Pearson, or "Paynie" to many who know him, is an American zoologist and environmentalist. Over 50 years during his career he was Professor of Zoology at UC Berkeley and Curator of Mammals at the Vertebrate Zoology Zoo. Pearson is known for his research on the role of predators in demography and the population cycle, and for his cross-sectional contributions to the biology of South American mammals, but his earlier studies on the ecology and physiology of the reproduction were also appreciated.
