Patrick Jacques Roy is a former Canadian professional ice hockey goalie and former head coach and executive vice-president of hockey for the Colorado Avalanche of the National Hockey Federation. He is currently General Manager and Head Coach of the Quebec Remparts of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. He is considered one of the greatest goal scorers of all time. In 2017, Roy was named one of the 100 greatest NHL players in history. Nicknamed “Saint Patrick,” Roy split his competitive NHL career between the Montreal Canadiens, whom he played for 11 years, and Avalanche, with whom he played for eight years. Roy has won four Stanley Cups in his career, two with each franchise. Roy was born in Quebec, but grew up in Cap-Rouge, Quebec. In 2004, Roy was selected as the greatest goalscorer in NHL history by a panel of 41 writers, with a poll of concurrent fans. On November 13, 2006, Roy was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame.
