He was the first player to achieve a perfect nine dart result in the Embassy World Darts Championship, which he achieved in 1990 in the second round match against Jack McKenna. Lim won £ 52,000 for his 9th stinger, which is £ 28,000 more than the amount Phil Taylor made by winning the tournament. His nine darts remained the only nine dart game ever made in both versions of the World Championship, until Raymond van Barneveld knocked out Jelle Klaasen in the quarterfinals of the 2009 PDC World Darts Championship.
