He voiced Wallace in Oscar-winning films Wallace and Gromit and played Norman "Cleggy" Clegg in Last of the Summer Wine from his 1973 debut to his final episode in 2010, making him become Single actor appeared in all 295 episodes. In addition, he played the role of Norman Clegg's father in the prequel series First of the Summer Wine. Although Sallis was born and raised in London, the characters of Wallace and Clegg both hail from the North. Among his TV credits, Sallis has appeared in Danger Man, The Avengers, Doctor Who, The Persuaders! and The Ghosts of Motley Hall. Sallis film appearances include the horror films Hammer The Curse of the Werewolf and Taste the Blood of Dracula.
