Rebecca Adlington is a former British competitive swimmer specializing in free events in international competitions. She won two gold medals at the 2008 Summer Olympics in the 400-meter and 800-meter freestyle, breaking Janet Evans' 19-year-old world record in the 800-meter final. Adlington is the first British Olympic swim champion since 1988 and the first British swimmer to win two Olympic gold medals since 1908.
