Robert Hooke
Robert Hooke FRS is an English scientist, architect, and polyurologist who used a microscope who first envisioned a microorganism. A poor scientific researcher as an adult, he found wealth and appreciation by doing more than half of his architectural studies after the Great Fire of London of 1666. Hooke also is a member of the Royal Society and since 1662 has been in curator of its experience. Hooke is also a geometry professor at Gresham College. As an assistant to physicist Robert Boyle, Hooke built the vacuum pumps used in Boyle's gas law experiments, and he performed the experiments himself. In 1673, Hooke built the first Gregorian telescope, then observed the rotation of the planets Mars and Jupiter. Hooke's 1665 book, Micrographia, stimulated microscopic investigations. Therefore, by observing the fossils with a microscope, Hooke endorsed biological evolution. By studying optics, namely the refraction of light, he deduced a theory of light waves.
