Roland Glen "Rollie" Fingers is a retired American professional baseball pitcher who played 17 seasons in the Major League for Oakland Athletics, San Diego Padres and Milwaukee Brewers. Fingers' effectiveness as a backup pitcher helped redefine the value of pain relievers in baseball and helped usher in a more modern role. He's a three-time World Series champion, seven-time All-Star, four-time bailout of the Man of the Year Rolaids, and three times the MLB lead saving. Fingers won the American League's Most Valuable Player award and the Cy Young Prize in 1981. Fingers retired in 1985 with 341 career saves, the most in MLB history until 'he was beaten by Jeff.
