Rosa Louise McCauley Parks is an American civil rights activist known for her central role in the Montgomery bus boycott. The US Congress called her "the first lady of the rights" and "mother of the freedom movement." On December 1, 1955, in Montgomery, Alabama, Parks fired bus driver James F. Blake's order to empty a row of four seats in the "color" section for the benefit of a white passenger, after the "white" section has been filled. Parks is not the first to fight discrimination on buses, but the National Association for the Advancement of Blacks believe she is the best candidate to pass the next forensic test when she was arrested for civil disobedience in violation. Alabama state laws and she helped inspire the black community to boycott a Montgomery bus for over a year.
