Salman Ahmad
Salman Ahmad is a Pakistani-American musician, rock guitarist, doctor, social activist and professor at City University of New York. He became nationally popular in 1998 for his unique neoclassical style of rock. One of the first major notation engineers, he founded Junoon in 1990 with American bassist Brian O'Connell and pioneered Sufi-influenced rock music in Pakistan. He has been active since the mid-1990s and has participated in two BBC documentaries on issues in Pakistan such as society, education, religion and science. He is the United Nations Goodwill Ambassador for the HIV / AIDS program to raise awareness about HIV in South Asia. While working with Pakistani media to help bring peace between India and Pakistan, Ahmad continued to produce documentaries and guitar solo albums.
