Samuel Peralta Sosa is a former professional Dominican-American baseball rights athlete of Haitian descent. He played in Major League baseball for 19 seasons, primarily with the Chicago Cubs. After playing for the Texas Rangers and the Chicago White Sox, Sosa joined the Cubs in 1992 and became one of the best players in the game. Sosa hit his 400th homerun in game 1354 and his 5,273 game at club, hitting that mark faster than any player in National League history. He is one of nine players in MLB history to have hit 600 home games in his career. In 1998, Sosa and Mark McGwire became nationally famous for their ability to hit a club at home in pursuit of Roger Maris's home run record. With the Cubs, Sosa became an All-Star 7 times while holding many team records. He ended his career with a second jersey of Baltimore Orioles and Rangers. With Rangers, Sosa had his 600th home match in his career to become the fifth player in MLB history to reach this milestone.
