She holds the current national record in the 200 meters of 22.82 seconds set at the National Athletics Meeting held in Ludhiana on August 28, 2002. She broke the previous record held by Rachita Mistry since July 2000. Thanks to this, Saraswati became the first Indian woman. to break the 23-second barrier in 200 meters. The highlight of her career was the gold medal she won at the Asian Games in Busan in 2002. Rachita represented India in the 4 × 100 meter relay race alongside P. T. Usha, E. B. Shyla and Rachita Mistry at the 1998 Asian Athletics Championships, where her team won gold en route to setting the current national record of 44.43s. Later in the 4x100-meter relay at the Sydney 2000 Olympics, his team - including V. Jayalakshmi, Vinita Tripathi and Rachita Mistry - clocked 45.20 seconds in the first round. The team finished last during their hot spell.
