Sippie Wallace is an American singer and songwriter. His early career in tent shows earned him the title "Texas lark". From 1923 to 1927, she recorded more than 40 songs for Okeh Records, many of which were written by her brothers, George and Hersal Thomas. His accompanists include Louis Armstrong, Johnny Dodds, Sidney Bechet, King Oliver and Clarence Williams. Among the best blues singers of her time, Wallace is ranked alongside Ma Rainey, Ida Cox, Alberta Hunter and Bessie Smith. In the 1930s, she left her performance business to become an organist, singer and choir director in Detroit and played only secular music until the 1960s, when she continued his performance career. Wallace was nominated for a Grammy Award in 1982 and was introduced to the Michigan Women's Hall of Fame in 1993
