Thomas John Brokaw is a retired American journalist and author. He was the first co-host of The Today Show from 1976 to 1981 with Jane Pauley, then host and editor of NBC Nightly News for 22 years. He was also a pre-show weekend host from 1973 to 1976. He was the only one to host three main NBC News shows: The Today Show, NBC Nightly News and for short Meet the Press. He was previously a special correspondent for NBC News and worked on documentaries for other media. Along with his competitors Peter Jennings at ABC News and Dan Rather at CBS News, Brokaw was one of the "Big Three" news hosts in the United States during the 1980s, 1990s, and early years. 2000.
