Francis James Westbrook Pegler is an American journalist and writer. He was a leading columnist in the 1930s and 1940s, best known for his opposition to new politics and to unions. Pegler pointed his pen at the presidents of both parties, including Herbert Hoover, FDR, Harry Truman and John F. Kennedy. He also criticized the Supreme Court, the tax system and corrupt unions. In 1962, he lost his contract with King Features Syndicate, owned by Hearst Group, after he began to criticize Hearst executives. His later writings appear sporadically in publications such as American Opinion of the John Birch Society.
