Born in New York City, Buckley served in the United States Army during World War II before studying at Yale University, where he engaged in conservative political debate and commentary. In addition to editorials for the National Review, Buckley has written God and Man at Yale and more than 50 other books on a variety of topics including writing, speaking, history, politics, and sailing.
