William Holabird is an American architect. Holabird was the son of General Samuel B. Holabird and Mary Theodosia Grant. He studied at the US Military Academy at West Point, but resigned and moved to Chicago, where he later married. He worked in the architectural firm of William Le Baron Jenney alongside O.C. Simonds. Shortly after receiving the commission to expand Graceland Cemetery, Jenney transferred it to his assistants, who in 1880 founded the Holabird & Simonds Company to do this work. In 1881, Martin Roche, who also worked in Jenney's office, joined them as a third partner.
