Woodrow Tracy Harrelson is an American actor and playwright. He is the recipient of several awards, including the Primetime Emmy, and has been nominated for three Oscars and four Golden Globe Awards. Harrelson was first known as bartender Woody Boyd on the NBC sitcom Cheers, for which he won the Primetime Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series out of a total of five nominations. He received three Oscar nominations: Best Actor for The People vs Best Actor. Larry Flynt and Best Supporting Actor for The Messenger and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. He was also nominated for the Primetime Emmy Award for Best Actor in a Serial Drama for his role as Marty Hart in the first season of the HBO crime detective series True Detective.
