Xernona Clayton Brady is an American civil rights leader and broadcasting operator. During the civil rights movement she worked for the National Urban Federation and the Southern Catholic Leadership Conference, where she participated in the work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Clayton then turned to television, where she became the first African-American in the southern United States to host a daily prime-time talk show. She became the corporate vice president for urban affairs at Turner Broadcasting. Clayton created the Trumpet Foundation. He is credited with developing the International Civil Rights Avenue, developed by the organization to honor the achievements of African Americans and civil rights defenders. She convinces a Grand Dragon from the Ku Klux Klan to denounce Klan. Clayton has been honored by the National Association for the Advancement of Blacks and the City of Atlanta for her work.
