Allahrakha Rahman, better known by the stage name A. R. Rahman, is an Indian composer, record producer, singer and songwriter who has mainly worked on Tamil and Hindi films. In 2010, the Indian government awarded Mr. Padma Bhushan the third highest civilian honor in the country. Rahman's accolades include six National Cinema Awards, two Oscars, two Grammy Awards, one BAFTA Award, one Golden Globe Award, fifteen Filmfare Awards and seventeen Southern Filmfare Awards. Originally, Rahman composed music for various documentaries and tinkered with Indian commercials and TV channels.
