Edwards began his career in the 1940s as an actor, but soon began writing scripts and radio scripts before moving into production and directing in television and film. His most popular films include Breakfast at Tiffany's, Days of Wine and Roses, 10, Victor / Victoria and hit series Pink Panther featuring British actor Peter Sellers. Often regarded as a comedian, he has also directed a number of dramas, musicals, and detective films. At the end of his career, he switched to writing, producing and directing theater. In 2004, he received an Honors Academy Award in recognition of his work on screenwriting, directing and producing an extraordinary piece of work.
