Dorothy Catherine Fontana is an American television storyteller and writer, best known for her work on the original Star Trek series and several Western television series. After a brief stint with Samuel A. Peeples as secretary, she moved to work for film producer Del Reisman Lieutenant, creator Gene Roddenberry. Although Lieutenant was soon canceled, Roddenberry began working on Star Trek and Fontana was made the show's editor-in-chief, but he left after season two to work as a freelance. She later worked with Roddenberry on Genesis II, then wrote and co-produced on Star Trek: The Animated Series. During the 1970s and early 1980s, she worked on Logan's Run, The Six Million Dollar Man and Buck Rogers in the 25th century
