Djamila Ribeiro
Djamila Taís Ribeiro dos Santos is a black Brazilian feminist journalist and philosopher. She obtained a degree in political philosophy from the Federal University of São Paulo, where she also obtained a master's degree in the work of Simone de Beauvoir and Judith Butler. Ribeiro is collaborative editor of the weekly Carta Capital and columnist for Carta Capital and Folha de S. Paulo. In May 2016, she was appointed São Paulo's Deputy Secretary for Human Rights and Citizenship, joining the Fernando Haddad administration. She presented the Portuguese edition of Women, Race and Class by black feminist philosopher Angela Davis. Ribeiro and Davis have collaborated many times. Ribeiro also works as an online blogger and activist. In 2018, she appeared as the representative of Brazilian civil society at the joint annual meeting of Harvard and MIT in Brazil.
