Halim Abdul Messieh El-Dabh is an Egyptian-American composer, musician, ethnographer and educator who has had a career spanning six decades. He is especially known as one of the earliest pioneers of electronic music. In 1944 he composed one of the first known compositions as musical tapes or specific music. From the late 1950s to the early 1960s, he produced influential works at the Columbia-Princeton Electronic Music Center.
