Hugo Junkers is a German aeronautical engineer and aircraft designer who pioneered the design of all-metal airplanes and flying wings. His company, Junkers Flugzeug- und Motorenwerke AG, was a mainstay of the German aircraft industry during the years between WWI and WWII. Its all-metal and all-metal multi-engine passenger and cargo planes have helped establish airlines in Germany and around the world. In addition to airplanes, Junkers also builds diesel and gasoline engines, and holds several patents for thermodynamics and metallurgy. He was also one of the main sponsors of the Bauhaus movement and facilitated the move of the Bauhaus from Weimar to Dessau in 1925
