John Campbell McTiernan Jr. is an American filmmaker. He is known for his action movies, notably Predator, Die Hard and The Hunt for Red October. His later popular films include the action-comedy-fantasy movie Last Action Hero, sequel to the action-film Die Hard with a Vengeance, the thief remake of The Thomas Crown Affair and The 13 Warrior. His last completed film is the mystery thriller Basic, released in 2003. He pleaded guilty to perjury and lied to the FBI investigator about his hiring as private investigator Anthony Pellicano in late 2000 to illegally eavesdrop on two phone calls. . One of them is Charles Roven, the co-producer of the sci-fi action-thriller remake of Rollerball. He was held in a federal prison from April 2013 to February 2014. During his incarceration, he filed for bankruptcy during the foreclosure procedure on his farm.
