Reid Scott was a Canadian lawyer and provincial judge, and member of the New Democratic Party of Congress for the electoral district of Danforth, Toronto, from 1962 to 1968, leaving federal politics on the road. Previously, he was a member of the Commonwealth of Cooperation of the Provincial Parliament for the constituency of Beaches from 1948 to 1951. He returned to politics in 1969 as Mayor of the City of Toronto. Scott, then a law student, defeated 22-year-old incumbent Thomas Alexander Murphy when he was elected to Ontario's Legislative Assembly as the MPP for the Beaches in the 1948 provincial elections. At the age of 21 He set a record as the youngest congressman ever elected. , remained uninterrupted until the election of 19-year-old Sam Oosterhoff in a 2016 sub-election. Scott ran in the 1962 federal election and was elected NDP candidate for Danforth. As a congressman, he played a role in the "Great Flag Debate".
