Kjell Stefan Löfven is a Swedish politician who has been the Prime Minister of Sweden since 2014 and has led the Swedish Social Democratic Party since 2012. After leaving school and completing his mandatory military service in the Air Force Löfven trained in welding and then began his career. as an active union member. He was elected as a mediator in the Swedish Metal Craftsmen Union and was eventually elected as the first president of IF Metall in January 2006, a new large union formed from a number of small, unions. including SMU, vote for consolidation. After Håkan Juholt resigned in January 2012, Löfven was unanimously chosen by the executive committee of the Social Democratic Party to replace him as the new party leader. It also made Löfven the leader of the opposition, despite the fact that he did not have a seat in Riksdag at the time. Löfven led the Social Democratic Party in the 2014 election
