Anthony Gregory Brown is an American lawyer and politician who serves as the United States Representative for the 4th Congressional District of Maryland. The county includes most of the predominantly black areas of Prince George County, as well as parts of Anne Arundel County. Before that, he served two terms as the eighth governor of Maryland, from 2007 to 2015. He was elected lieutenant colonel in 2006 under the Democratic ticket with Governor Martin. O'Malley, and both were re-elected in 2010. In 2014, Brown ran unsuccessfully for governor, losing to Republican Larry Hogan. Brown served two four-year terms at the Maryland House of Delegates, representing Prince George's County. He is a retired colonel in the US Army Reserve, having served in the US Army for more than thirty years. As a lieutenant colonel, Brown was the country's highest elected official on a business trip to Iraq.

In 2007, he was elected as Maryland's 8th Lieutenant Governor as a Democrat. He spent nearly three decades in the US Army and is one of the highest-ranking public figures in the country to have served in Iraq.
