P. F. "Flip" Sloan is an American pop-rock singer and songwriter. He was very successful in the mid-1960s, writing, performing and producing Billboard's Top 20 Hits for artists including Barry McGuire, The Searchers, Jan and Dean, Herman's Hermits, Johnny Rivers, The Grass Roots, The Turtles and The Mamas and Papas. . Sloan's signature song is "Eve of Destruction" - the 1965 US number one song for Barry McGuire. Many of his songs were written in collaboration with Steve Barri. Their collaboration led to two of America's top hits - Herman's Hermits's "A Must to Avoid" and Johnny Rivers's "Secret Agent Man" - and Turtles' "You Baby". In 1970, composer Jimmy Webb composed a tribute song "P.F. Sloan".
