Rūta Meilutytė is a retired Lithuanian swimmer, Olympic gold medalist and world record holder. She currently holds the world record in the 100 meter frog swimming. At the age of 15, she broke 11 Lithuanian women's swimming records. At the 2011 European Youth Olympic Festival in Trabzon, Meilutytė won a gold medal in the 100m frog stroke, a silver medal in the 50m freestyle and a bronze medal in the 100m freestyle. At the 2012 London Summer Olympics, Meilutytė won the gold medal for the 100 meter female frog swimming content with a time of 1: 05.47. At the age of 15, she is also the youngest Lithuanian athlete to win an Olympic gold medal. In the semi-finals, she broke the European record in the 100m frog swimming content with a time of 1:05:21. In 2013, Meilutytė broke his own European record of 0.01 seconds. Rūta competed at the 2013 Underwater World Championships in Barcelona and set a world record in the 50-meter and 100-meter frog swimming content.
