Alan Rubin, auch bekannt als Mr. Fabulous, ist ein amerikanischer Musiker. Er spielt Trompete, Signalhorn und Piccolo. Rubin besuchte im Alter von 17 Jahren die Juilliard School of Music in New York und studierte bei William Vacchiano, dem Trompetenchef der New York Philharmonic. Vacchiano beschrieb Rubin als seinen besten Schüler. Bei Juilliard wurde Rubin eingeladen, mit Paul Hindemith auf seiner letzten US-Tournee aufzutreten, aber Rubin entschied sich, mit Peggy Lee im Village Vanguard aufzutreten. Rubin verließ Juilliard im Alter von 20 Jahren, um mit Sänger Robert Goulet als Lead-Trompeter auf Tour zu gehen. Rubin war Mitglied der Saturday Night Live Band, die er bei der Abschlussfeier der Olympischen Spiele 1996 aufführte. Als Mitglied der Blues Brothers spielte er Mr. Fabulous in der Fortsetzung von 1980, 1998, und ist Mitglied der Reisegruppe. Der Spitzname "Mr. Fabulous" wurde Rubin von John Belushi gegeben.
